About PRISM International

An Introduction to PRISM

PRISM International (Professional Records & Information Services Management) is the not-for-profit trade association for the commercial information management industry. This industry is made up of outsourcing partners that provide their clients with physical and digital information protection, access, retention, storage and disposal. PRISM International maintains two offices. The headquarters of the organization is located in the Raleigh, North Carolina area. A European Secretariat is located in Brussels, Belgium.

Mission and Vision
Our vision is to be the primary global resource for commercial information management outsourcing providers. We serve our members through the five areas of our primary mission:
1) We seek to provide the best industry-specific education in the world;
2) We seek to continually advocate for the commercial information management industry before governments, standards organizations, the media and consumers;
3) We seek to sustain an accessible forum for mentoring, for exchanging industry information and experience, and for the creation of meaningful professional relationships among peers;
4) We seek to research and develop new products, services and information which will return value to our members; and
5) We seek to increase professionalism through the enforcement of ethical, business and personal standards of conduct and operation.

Our Industry
The commercial information management industry specializes in the effective management of private and public sector records and information. Services range from commercial records centers which manage physical records, media vaults which maintain digital records and assist in emergency business continuity restoration, digital and film imaged information, electronic vaulting, digital archiving, confidential destruction services, information management consulting and other outsourcing services related to information management. Through appropriate records and information management and outsourcing, industry clients can realize substantial cost savings, mitigate risk related to litigation and audit, and improve business efficiency through better information asset organization and maintenance.

Our Membership
PRISM International members include the owners and senior management of commercial information management companies around the world. Since its founding in 1980, PRISM International has expanded to include members in more than 40 countries. Educational events are scheduled regularly in the United States, Europe and Asia.
